Extract your competitor\u2019s Twitter\u00a0Friends<\/h3>\n<p id=\"3fd0\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--h3 translation-block\">No I\u2019m not drunk, I really mean Twitter <em class=\"markup--em markup--p-em\">Friends<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p id=\"e53a\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">You\u2019re somebody\u2019s Twitter friend if you follow them and they follow you back.<\/p>\n<p id=\"d44d\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">Without this little detail, this whole tactic would be useless.<\/p>\n<p id=\"bfa3\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">If your competitor is anywhere near a serious player in the market, they\u2019ll <a href=\"https:\/\/viralyft.com\/buy-twitter-followers\">have a lot more followers<\/a> than they follow themselves.<\/p>\n<p id=\"7df3\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p\">\ud83d\udc49 This makes mere Twitter followers next to <em class=\"markup--em markup--p-em translation-block\">useless.<\/em><\/p>\n<p id=\"8b74\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">Twitter <em class=\"markup--em markup--p-em\">Friends<\/em> on the other hand are a lot more likely to be important to your competitor.<\/p>\n<p id=\"28fc\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">Twitter-following is widely adopted way of building and sustaining relations with customers and influencers.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"b778\" class=\"graf graf--figure graf-after--p\">\n<div class=\"aspectRatioPlaceholder is-locked\" style=\"max-width: 600px; max-height: 408px;\">\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"graf-image\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/1_PZyTADsPsRsmPqPXZjS6A.png\"><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p id=\"907a\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--figure translation-block\">Both customers and influencers great for targeting with whatever great and relevant value you have to offer them.<\/p>\n<p id=\"18e7\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">To get a list of your competitor\u2019s Twitter Friends, you can use <a class=\"markup--anchor markup--p-anchor\" href=\"https:\/\/friendorfollow.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FriendOrFollow<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em class=\"translation-block\">UPDATE 16\/03\/2018: FriendOrFollow seems to have stopped existing. RIP FriendOrFollow! We however came across <a href=\"http:\/\/www.giuseppepastore.com\/en\/get-twitter-followers\/\">the following post<\/a> to do a similar thing using Followerwonk. It\u2019s a post from 2013, but it still works at the time of writing.<\/em><\/p>\n<p id=\"e22e\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">FriendOrFollow allows you to pull lists of Twitter following, fans (these that follow you without following them back, friends, unfollowers and followers.<\/p>\n<p id=\"021e\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">We\u2019re going for Friends here. I pulled up Salesflare\u2019s list as an example \ud83d\udc47.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"f0cb\" class=\"graf graf--figure graf-after--p\">\n<div class=\"aspectRatioPlaceholder is-locked\" style=\"max-width: 700px; max-height: 461px;\">\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"graf-image\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/0MPZ8-_2CMBD5vkRo\"><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p id=\"2bb4\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--figure translation-block\">You want this stuff in a nice sheet.<\/p>\n<p id=\"191c\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">Hit <em class=\"markup--em markup--p-em\">\u2018Export as CSV\u2019 <\/em>as show in the screenshot.<\/p>\n<p id=\"9d10\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">Now, this software would have no reason to still exist if there wasn\u2019t some kind of monetisation to it.<\/p>\n<p id=\"75c4\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">You guessed it,\u00a0.CSV export is a Pro-function. Pro is about $10 a month.<\/p>\n<p id=\"cdea\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">No worries, you get a 7 day \u2018\ud83c\udd93\u2019 trial\u00a0.<\/p>\n<p id=\"a422\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">You do have to register a credit card. Be sure to not forget to cancel your subscription if you don\u2019t wish to pay for this.<\/p>\n<p id=\"978f\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">Now you have big fat\u00a0.CSV with Twitter handles of your competitor\u2019s Twitter Friends.<\/p>\n<p id=\"decb\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">One of the coolest things you\u2019ll be able to do later on is making Lookalike Facebook Audiences from your competitor\u2019s friends\/customers.<\/p>\n<p id=\"093a\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">For this Lookalike Audience to be as accurate as possible, you\u2019ll probably need more data than the friends from just one competitor. Match Gmail addresses with <a class=\"markup--anchor markup--h3-anchor\" href=\"http:\/\/findthatlead.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FindThatLead<\/a><\/h3>\n<p id=\"74cb\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--h3 translation-block\">You need email addresses to make Facebook Audiences.<\/p>\n<p id=\"7a22\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">Not just email addresses: <em class=\"markup--em markup--p-em\">personal<\/em> email addresses.<\/p>\n<p id=\"65b5\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">People don\u2019t connect their work emails to Facebook.<\/p>\n<p id=\"d6bf\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">It\u2019s unlikely you\u2019ll find emails for <em class=\"markup--em markup--p-em\">all<\/em> of your competitor\u2019s Twitter handles.<\/p>\n<p id=\"b9d7\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">But we can get <em class=\"markup--em markup--p-em\">close<\/em>, using two methods.<\/p>\n<p id=\"4216\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">The first one?<\/p>\n<p id=\"b931\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">\u261d Guessing. Making educated guesses and verifying those guesses.<\/p>\n<p id=\"b3f9\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">We\u2019ll be making guesses based on two assumptions:<\/p>\n<p id=\"4aeb\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">#1. For quite some people the part that comes before \u2018@\u2019 in their personal emails is identical to their Twitter handle.<\/p>\n<p id=\"0f16\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">#2. A lot of people also use Gmail, Outlook, iCloud (maybe even Hotmail?) for their personal emails.<\/p>\n<p id=\"6695\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">\ud83d\udc49 Open up Excel (or Google Sheets).<\/p>\n<p id=\"0d6a\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">Put together email addresses twitterhandle@gmail.com, twitterhandle@outlook.com,\u2026 using <em class=\"markup--em markup--p-em\">\u2018<\/em><a class=\"markup--anchor markup--p-anchor\" href=\"https:\/\/support.office.com\/en-us\/article\/CONCATENATE-function-8f8ae884-2ca8-4f7a-b093-75d702bea31d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em class=\"markup--em markup--p-em\">CONCATENATE<\/em><\/a><em class=\"markup--em markup--p-em\">\u2019<\/em> in a new column in your sheet and save the column as a separate\u00a0.CSV.<\/p>\n<p id=\"1b7c\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">If you\u2019re looking to target Darth Vader and his Twitter handle is \u2018darthvader\u2019, your educated guess would be \u2018darthvader@gmail.com\u2019.<\/p>\n<p id=\"96c9\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">\ud83d\udc49 Now we need <a class=\"markup--anchor markup--p-anchor\" href=\"https:\/\/findthatlead.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FindThatLead <\/a>to verify if these email addresses actually exist.<\/p>\n<p id=\"d0c6\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">FindThatLead is a great tool that allows you to find anyone\u2019s corporate email address from their first name, last name and company domain. Say from SaaS entrepreneurs located in Berlin (textbook Salesflare customers).<\/p>\n<p id=\"6435\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">Dux-Soup will notify these users of you visiting them. Hit \u2018Visit Profiles\u2019 from the Dux-Soup Chrome Extension.<\/h4>\n<h4 id=\"ed1f\" class=\"graf graf--h4 graf-after--h4\">\ud83d\udd25 Now comes the other reason why I\u2019m only writing this guide\u00a0now.<\/h4>\n<p id=\"4787\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--h4 translation-block\">Before, I\u2019d combine company domains with first names and\/or last names to get the email addresses from the LinkedIn Profiles.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ede6\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">But: these were often not personal email addresses I could use in a Facebook Audience.<\/p>\n<p id=\"0018\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">Things have changed since Dux-Soup launched their very own email retriever \ud83d\ude0e.<\/p>\n<p id=\"0661\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">As soon as you hit that <em class=\"markup--em markup--p-em\">\u2018Visit Profiles\u2019<\/em> button, Dux-Soup will ask if you want them to retrieve email addresses too.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"e99e\" class=\"graf graf--figure graf-after--p\">\n<div class=\"aspectRatioPlaceholder is-locked\" style=\"max-width: 700px; max-height: 535px;\">\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"graf-image\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/0A6IVh9yvg6S28Dji\"><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p id=\"71d9\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--figure translation-block\">Dux-Soup has a point system where 1 point is good for 1 email address return.<\/p>\n<p id=\"132a\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">You can either buy these points or trade in the email addresses from your LinkedIn connections.<\/p>\n<p id=\"a46e\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">This is how they source all those emails.<\/p>\n<p id=\"0a21\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">I found the return rate to be around 90% (!) \ud83d\udca5.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"4986\" class=\"graf graf--figure graf-after--p\">\n<div class=\"aspectRatioPlaceholder is-locked\" style=\"max-width: 700px; max-height: 606px;\">\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"graf-image\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/0Hbz4senqniw5LObi\"><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p id=\"0645\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--figure translation-block\">Here\u2019s the awesome part: a lot of the email addresses Dux-Soup will return are <em class=\"markup--em markup--p-em\">personal <\/em>Gmail \u2014 addresses.<\/p>\n<p id=\"312e\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">In combination with the twitterhandle@gmail.com trick ft. FindThatLead, you\u2019ll now have about every personal email address there is to find for the group of competitor customers and friends.<\/p>\n<p id=\"4ad1\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">If you\u2019re keen on finding remaining email addresses too, you can run firstname@domain, firstname.lastname@domain, firstletterfirstnamelastname@domain and other conventional email address formats through FindThatLead again.<\/p>\n<p id=\"6d28\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">(Note: Revisiting in Dux-Soup is a Pro-feature. This would set you back about $15 a month.)<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"c3b7\" class=\"graf graf--h4 graf-after--p\"><em class=\"markup--em markup--h4-em\">Why are these personal email addresses?<\/em><\/h4>\n<p id=\"be32\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--h4 translation-block\">Simple: back when LinkedIn was taking its first steps, most people signed up with their personal email and never bothered to change their primary email addresses to their work email.<\/p>\n<p id=\"37a4\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p translation-block\">You might have an <em class=\"markup--em markup--p-em\">oh oh<\/em>\u2014 moment now.
